OUR STORY
We're a Showrunner [Jenny] and Producer / Story Editor [JJ] who met in post on Canada’s Got Talent. What started as collaboration turned into reinvention.
The traditional model of one story editor, one editor, one episode wasn’t cutting it. Segments needed more: more shape, more nuance, more hands with different strengths. So we changed the game.
* Each editor worked to their strengths. - taking on a small part of each episode and passing it on to the next editor for their specialty pass
* We nixed the idea of story editors overseeing an episode and instead planted ourselves at the forefront of every edit.
* Every 8 minute segment of story editing began and ended with Jenny and JJ: assembles were subject to exec review before an editor touched it.
The Result?
* Minimal network notes due to 8-minute reviews.
* Zero wasted edit time.
* No overtime, no burnout: just editors doing what they do best.
* Fewer story editors, used smarter: logging, mining, prepping for precise story passes.
It worked so well, we had time for drinks after work — always at the same place: The Rhino Bar in Toronto. So when we launched our company, we named it after that.
